We are really lucky here at Exec SC to work with very interesting small businesses that's aims are to help bring about good in the world. One such client is the London Mathematical Laboratory (LML), an institute for basic science in which researchers are commissioned to follow their curiosity. I work with them approximately 1 day a week and help with numerous office management tasks. London Mathematical Laboratory is an institute for basic science. As well as supporting academic research at its central London laboratory, it also runs a guest house for visiting academics, organises an annual summer school, and hosts a range of public events, including a programme of films at the Barbican cinema.
LML engaged Chloe to help with these non-academic projects. These have grown in scope since the institute was founded in 2012 and our previous administrator was unable to devote sufficient time to them. Chloe has been a godsend, allowing us to focus on what we do best: our research. She is one of those people to whom one can delegate a task and then completely forget about it, knowing that it will be done on time and to a high standard.
Chloe does not just run these projects efficiently. She has set many of them up from scratch. The LML guest house was an empty shell last summer. It is now fully furnished and taking bookings. The first season of Science on Screen was only partly organised when Chloe joined us. It is now complete and has been such a great success that a second season has already been agreed with the Barbican.
These achievements are not just down to Chloe's hard work: they are also testament to the ideas she has contributed to LML. The fellows now consider a part of the LML community.
